June offers a whole bunch of options for racing. From 5k’s to the marathon, and everything in between (Wipeout run anyone?), June has it all. Checkout our complete race calendar, or keep reading for some great suggestions.
How do you pick a race?
Is it something you meticulously plan months in advance, or the night before on a whim? Either way, racing is a great way to build a habit. Below we have listed races by date and distance. If you’re looking to get into triathlon, June is spilling over with them.
As you make Memorial day plans, register for one of these great races. It will motivate you to stay active as you begin your summer.
Looking for an early summer half marathon? Checkout Lola’s Half Marathon on June 6th. This scenic course around lake Waconia, has distances for everyone. In addition to the half marathon, there is a 2-person 1/2 marathon relay, 10 mile, and a dog friendly 5k run/walk. This race is part of the MN Running Series.
Mountain Goat Running has two events in June that benefits worthy causes. The Mile in My Shoes Run is a 10k and a 5k in the beautiful Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington, MN. Proceeds go towards Mile in My Shoes, which fosters wellness, empathy and empowerment within individuals & communities. The Break the Stigma Trail Races, June 28, are trail 10 mile and 5k races in Farmington. The Break the Stigma organization exists to educate, encourage and inspire others about mental health issues and treatments in an effort to end stigma and foster hope.
We Run for Beer! For those less interested in hard core running, checkout one of several Minnesota Brewery Run Series races this month. Harriet Brewery (June 13), Third Street Brewhouse (June 20), and Bent Paddle Brewery (June 27), all promise to offer a fun, “craft” experience for runners and non-runners alike.

Red, White & Boom! A staple of summer races, this half marathon and relay offers a fantastic way to start your 4th of July festivities. Start and end along the river on St. Anthony Main in the heart of the Minneapolis Mill District. Stick around for the fireworks that night.
The RBC Race for the Kids Minnesota Half Marathon & 5K is August 1. This is not only a great race, but supports a fantastic cause. This half marathon, 2 person half relay, skate, 5k and 1k kids race, runs up and down Shepard Rd, along the river in St. Paul. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest
