There are many races to choose from this spring but the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k in Minneapolis sets itself apart as one of the best, and sweetest in town! If you’re new to the Hot Chocolate series, know this: this ain’t no rinky-dink run with a bar of chocolate at the finish. No, the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is a different kind of race entirely, and one that you really, really don’t want to miss.
Check Out the Expo
The two-day race expo on April 12-13 is free and open to the public, so bring your friends and family to sample products and take advantage of exclusive vendor discounts! The expo will take place at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis to kick off the chocolate weekend. Participants must pick up their packets and race bibs. The expo is a great resource for runners and athletes all around for the latest trends in running technology, health, and nutrition information, and fitness apparel.
Race Day Course & Parking
Boom Island Park is located about one mile away from downtown Minneapolis so we suggest parking in downtown and walking to the Start line as a warm up to the race. Ample parking is also located in the Warehouse District or check out our hotel affiliates on the official Hot Chocolate 15k/5k Minneapolis website. The 5k race will start at 8:10 am and the 15k race will start at 8:55 am with the course highlighting Minneapolis’s biggest attractions!
Hot Chocolate races are held to the highest quality standards, from start to finish, with course design and accuracy, and emergency medical plans that exceed industry standards. Along those lines, all Hot Chocolate 15k/5k RAM Racing events have a USATF-certified course with a distance that has been certified for accuracy.
Chip-Timing & Race Results
The Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is an officially timed event using an industry leading disposable chip timing system. The timing system provides each participant with an accurate time from the start to the finish line as well as on course splits. You’ll see timing clocks at each mile marker along the USATF-certified course, as well as at the finish line. Results will stream live online in real-time, so you and your fans can check your time right after crossing the finish line. Keep your friends and family in the loop as you run for chocolate. Live runner updates send them free notifications via Facebook, Twitter, or text as you cross specific points on the course.
Don’t Forget about the Chocolate!
Along the course, runners will find sweet stations filled with M&Ms, chocolate chips, and other sweet treats. At the finish line, runners will receive a mug filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue, and chocolate squares, plus plenty of dipping snacks (think pretzels, marshmallows, and cookies.) Bonus: all chocolate is gluten free and nut free!
All Hot Chocolate 15k/5k participants will receive a quality jewel-toned fleece pullover that will get you through training through the cooler months! With its soft, technical fabric, this fitted, long-sleeved quarter-zip will keep you warm and fashionable during your winter runs. The chest pocket and thumb holes are just a few details we specifically designed for runners who are always on the go! Proclaim your love of chocolate and be the envy of all your running buddies.
Hot Chocolate 15k finishers will receive an official finisher medal to commemorate their awesome achievement, complete with a city-specific keychain! Each medal features a chocolate bar lookalike wrapped in gold and hung by a gold Finisher ribbon. Your medal will be given to you after crossing the finish line and then hang it with pride!
