An Open Love Letter to Running
Dear Valentine,
Let me begin by saying that I love you. I want you to remember this as we delve into this sincerest of Valentines.
Through everything we have been through together, somehow I still manage to want to wake up to you every morning. There are some mornings here in Minnesota where you give me the “cold shoulder,” but I forgive you because I know you are just being TEMPremental.
In a few months you will be there waiting with warm open arms and a sunny face. Our relationship can be somewhat “slippery” and “unstable” at times. I know these are only moments that will make me stronger. I don’t always appreciate you “raining on my parade,” but I hear this makes one mentally tough. You challenge me in the utmost way, and for that I thank you.
The Good Times
Of course, we have had some amazing times as well. Our relationship has given me the opportunity to travel the US and world with little to no expense. Some may assume I am a gold digger, but you and I both know that we have worked very hard to be able to visit those places. Because of you, I have learned to balance my life, challenge myself in ways I never thought possible, and accomplish some pretty great goals along the way.
The Rough Times
Every relationship ebs and flows. We have been through good times, and bad, but every time we “take a break,” I always come back to you. Maybe I am insane, maybe I am in love, maybe I am a little bit of both. Either way, I know you will always be standing right at my doorstep.
What started out as a mere flirtation on a golf course has turned into a miles and miles of passion. Even when we go round and round in circles, I still find our end result to be thrilling. I know that the road ahead won’t always be “right on track.” There may be heartbreak hills along our path, but I want you to know, I will never abandon you.
My dearest Mr. Run, you make my heart race.
