Meet Northstar Running Club – Minnesota’s Newest Club
There’s a new run club in town and I had the chance to meet them at a local track to chat about their team.
Northstar Running launched in March of 2015 by a core group of experienced runners looking to build community. Their goal: be a place for every runner of every ability with any kind of goal. Whether it is to run a first race, PR in a race, or just a life bucket list goal… they want you to join them!
When and Where?
Northstar Running meets 6-7 days a week for group runs and workouts. Chances are, if you want to run, someone from the club will want to join you too.
The club tries to meet at a variety of locations around the Twin Cities, so there are more opportunities for runners to join them. Some of their most frequented route are: Lake Harriet, trails at Hyland and the West River Parkway vicinity.
Some of the cool perks for getting involved in this growing club are a really cool team singlet (seriously, if you haven’t seen them yet, you’ll probably notice a bunch at the next race you’re at — they are slick!). Northstar Running welcomes every runner — from beginner to elite; to speed demons to those holding down the caboose.
Also, they do breakfast on the weekend. Who doesn’t love a good post-run brunch?
Membership in Northstar Running
Currently there are no membership fees, that is still being determined, but there is a fee for the team singlet. They will be introducing a club structure along with membership fees in the near future.
If you are interested in getting involved with Northstar Running for their next run, they encourage you to come check them out. No pressure to continue to show up again, or consistently. Many of their runners are drop-ins that casually join up for workouts or group runs. It’s a great way to build community, get to know fellow runners and get some motivation. They have a private facebook group available for all team members where they post their social plans and weekly logistics — locations, workouts, brunch plans…etc.
Many of the members said they probably wouldn’t still be runners today if they hadn’t joined up with this club. They are a fun, welcoming group of runners and love to see new faces.
Check them out!
For more information or questions, you can visit their website or email the team. They would be happy to answer any questions or offer some peer pressure to come check them out.
