Minneapolis Running has retired Thank you!
After six glorious years, Minneapolis Running has been retired.
I (Nathan Freeburg) launched the site in May 2012. In November of 2013, my family moved to Portland Oregon for what was supposed to be a two year job relocation for my wife. My “real job” is with a small Leadership Consulting firm based in Minneapolis and back then, I was traveling back and forth quite a bit. As the years went on, we had three more amazing children and my travel slowed way down. Other things became more of a priority and something had to give.
In 2016, Krysta Gunvalson came on board and took over 90% of the editing and posting responsibilities. She was absolutely incredible and the site couldn’t have gone on without her. I stepped way, way back, to focus on family and other new projects.
But as life so often does, even a minimum amount of time on this amazing site proved to be too much for both of us. In January of 2019, we made the hard decision to stop producing new content.
In addition to being a dad to four amazing children, I am also the co-founder of the Oregon Brewery Running Series an organized yet casual series of family-friendly 5K running/walking events in Oregon (we have 20+ events each year), and Krysta is focusing on writing, coaching, and her own amazing goals.
We want to thank the readers, contributors, and sponsors for all the support along the way. Keep running and remember our mission, “Motivating Minnesotans to become stronger runners while living happier lives.“
Go do that!
What’s next for the site?
