4 Halloween Races – Run at Least One in Costume.
Have you ever wanted to be a princess, superhero, or pirate? As an adult, we don’t often get the opportunity to dress up for Halloween without getting some awkward stares and glances. Here is your chance! Sport your costume while you run one of these 4 Halloween races in the Twin Cities. Celebrate Halloween in a fun and healthy way!
Why You Should Dress up for a Halloween Race
Serious runners may scoff at the idea of running a Halloween race in costume. If you’ve put in weeks and months of training, you probably don’t want a cape, or giant white thing on your head slowing you down.
If for no other reason, signup for a Halloween race, dressed in costume, simply for the fun of it! It’s a great way to connect with friends, and enjoy the less serious side of running. Who knows, you might get some of your non-running friends to join you, and imagine the pictures you’ll have!

Boo Run Run 5K
On October 18th grab your costume and walk or run the annual Boo Run Run 5K along the Mississippi River. This is a certified 5K run or walk with chip timing, a kids’ run, prizes, and post-race massages.
Now in its 5th year, running this race is a great way to support the work of Community Neighborhood Housing Services, a community based non-profit organization that helps people become homeowners and helps homeowners repair and maintain their homes.
Scare In White Bear
Looking for a fun, family friendly event for Halloween? Sign up for the Scare In White Bear on October 24th at West Park in White Bear Lake. The kids’ run begins at 6:30pm followed by a 5k. A race organizer said, “Our race is really unique… The path is lit up with tiki lamps!”
Bring your whole family and dress up in a theme. You could win the costume contest!
Halloween Fearless 5K
Non-exercisers fear exercise and fear that their efforts to improve their health and fitness will be a waste of time. On Saturday, October 25, actively demonstrate your friendly fearlessness as an active runner or walker by entering the Halloween Fearless 5K. This chip-timed 5k run and 1.5 mile walk takes place at Como Lake in St. Paul.
There you will find cheerful volunteers, Halloween music, announcer shout-outs, designer shirt, treats, holiday costumes, fabulous online post-event photographic slideshow, indoor heated restrooms, and much more. Bring some friends and get active!
Team Ortho’s Monster Dash half-marathon, 10-mile, and 5k courses in St. Paul are fast, beautiful and entertaining. You just might PR on this course, because it is all downhill! Also on October 25, the half-marathon and 10-miler races begin near the picturesque Cathedral of St. Paul and finish in Downtown St. Paul at the Mississippi River.
The 5k starts and finishes on Shepherd Road. Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage while running in costume! Team Ortho humorously states, “We can guarantee fun but we cannot guarantee ‘no chafing’.”
