The 2015 Minnesota October Race Calendar
October is a great month for racing. Fabulous fall marathons, terrifyingly ridiculous Halloween costume races, and everything in between. Usually my spring, summer and fall are spent preparing for a big climactic race at some point in October. Since I’m not running a fall marathon this year, I have been enjoying down time, and the excitement of shorter races.
Below is a sampling of the many events going on in October in Minnesota. For a complete schedule of all the 5k, 10k, half and full marathons, jump over to our race calendar.
If you’re looking for a way to round out your fall race calendar, consider the following events.
Twin Cities Marathon Weekend – October 3, 4
If you’re not registered for the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, you’re probably not looking to add this onto your race calendar. But did you know there is a 5K and 10K that weekend as well? There is a bunch of fun family stuff too! If you’d like to soak in the energy of everyone running the big race, register for one of these shorter races and join the fun.
Athleta Unleash the SHE 5k, 10k – October 11
On October 11, this women’s only 5K and 10K will be kicking off in Bloomington. The event supports ovarian cancer research (which you can read about here), as well as the strength, health and empowerment of women everywhere. Register now!
Minnesota Brewery Running Series
There are five, yes five MN Brewery Running Series events this month, and a double header on Halloween. Checkout all of their events for the remainder of 2015, and participate in the unique, small batch group of races. You’ll come away with a deeper appreciate of the Minnesota Craft Beer scene.
If you’re into chocolate, checkout the Chocoholic Frolic in St. Paul on November 8. It’s a 5K and 10K, and promises to have lots of chocolate, presumably with hot stuff too!
Note: Races updated to current year.
