The Undie Run Minneapolis

As we were walking downtown yesterday afternoon to see a show, I noticed several people wearing what appeared to be underwear as they strolled down Hennepin. Although not totally out of the ordinary, I was surprised to find out it was remnants of another pre-Valentine’s day run.

The Cupid’s Undie Run is a 1 mile (ish) fundraiser race for Children’s Tumor research. In addition to a rather steep entry fee ($75 on race day), they sold a variety of gear and novelty items to help raise money.

Here’s the story from the Star Tribune.

On the weekend before Valentine’s Day, runners appeared to turn Nicollet Mall into a strip mall on Saturday afternoon for Cupid’s Undie Run, a fundraiser for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The event, new to Minneapolis this year, was being held in 16 other U.S. cities plus Sydney, Australia; at least $1 million was raised for research.

Donations are still being accepted if you missed your chance to race down Nicollet Mall in your skivvies, and want to help.
