Getting a Tune Up at Orthology Physical Wellness – Solution for Rapid Recovery
As soon as the snow and ice arrived this past winter, I took my running indoors and was running 3-4 times a week on a treadmill. However, when we had one nice day in February I switched up one of my normal treadmill runs and brought it outdoors.
I made the classic rookie mistake.
My mistake was I ran the same distance outside that I normally run on the treadmill. Even though I felt great while I was running, when I got out of bed the next morning, I could really feel the effects of my previous day’s work out.
I needed to take some time away from running, which was difficult. Running is what I do. It is what I am known for by family and friends. It is what I write about. Also, winter is my time to get ready for a half-marathon in the spring. I couldn’t help but wonder how I was going to stay in shape.
I shared my issues with Sara Welle, and she suggested I checkout Orthology.
What is Orthology?
Orthology has collaborative care teams (such as physical therapists, soft tissue specialists and chiropractors) who deliver solutions for rapid recovery from chronic pain and physical injuries. Sara recommended I visit and had them look at my heel in my left foot. I was beyond ready to get rid of the stubborn pain, so I quickly signed up for an appointment.
At 7am on a weekday morning, I walked into Orthology in St. Louis Park for a TuneUp. I was greeted with a smile, and filled out “paperwork” on an iPad.
While waiting to meet with the doctors, I felt surprisingly relaxed. The clinic did not look or feel like a standard doctor’s office. The receptionist had a standing desk, red furniture filled the lobby, yoga and running magazines scattered throughout, and a TV covered one wall screening a basketball game.
A few short minutes after signing-in, a Doctor of Chiropractic and Doctor of Physical Therapy welcomed me in the lobby and look me into an examining room. Yes, you read that correctly – both doctors met with me! That’s what is unique about Orthology. They combine “multiple areas of expertise together in one collaborative effort”. Rather than multiple appointments at multiple clinics, I received treatment all in one place.
The appointment started with me sitting on a bed and both doctors asked me about my symptoms, wanted to know my athletic goals, and got to know me as an individual. I also did some balancing and feet movement before they left the room to privately discuss my injury and diagnose the problem. They were only gone for a few moments and came back saying I had plantar fasciitis.
Next, the Doctor of Chiropractic and Doctor of Physical Therapy played their own separate roles on educating me on the condition, treating the condition, and providing me with exercises to practice at home.
I couldn’t have been happier with my appointment. Throughout the hour long appointment, they educated me on what they were doing and why they were doing it. They made sure I was comfortable, though the treatment itself wasn’t relaxing. They worked closely together to create a comprehensive treatment plan that was customized just for me.
I would recommend Orthology. They have offices in many locations around the Twin Cities, and you can book an appointment online. I was blown away by their expertise, passion, and professionalism.
